GOVERNMENT OMNIBUS (FARES) AMENDMENT
REGULATIONS 2008



The Minister responsible for Transport, in exercise of the powers
conferred by section 9 of the Public Transportation Act 1951 and after
consultation with the Board, makes the following Regulations:

Citation
1 These Regulations may be cited as the Government Omnibus
(Fares) Amendment Regulations 2008.

Amends regulation 2
2 Regulation 2 of the Government Omnibus (Fares) Regulations
1952 (in these Regulations referred to as the “principal Regulations”) is
amended—

(a) by numbering the existing regulation as paragraph (1);

(b) by deleting the definition of “term pass” and substituting
the following definition—

““student pass” means a pass issued free of charge
to—

(a) a student in school in Bermuda; or

(b) a Bermudian who is not above the age of 18
and who is a student overseas,

for a fixed period, in respect of any journey;”; and

(c) by inserting the following paragraph next after
paragraph (1)—

“(2) For the purpose of this regulation, “Bermudian”
means a person who has Bermudian status under the
Bermuda Immigration and Protection Act 1956.”.

Amends regulation 3
3 Regulation 3(2) of the principal Regulations is amended—

(a) in sub-paragraph (a), by deleting “and”;

(b) by deleting the full stop at the end of sub-paragraph (b)
and substituting “; and”; and

(c) by inserting the following sub-paragraph next after sub-
paragraph (b)—

“(c) a student or child on production of a student pass.”.

Amends regulation 4
4 Regulation 4(c)(iii) of the principal Regulations is revoked and the
following is substituted—

“(iii) if student pass is produced Free”.

Commencement
5 These Regulations shall come into force on 8 September, 2008.
