MOTOR TAXI AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 2007


The Minister responsible for Transport, in exercise of the powers
conferred by section 37 of the Motor Car Act 1951, makes the following
Regulations:

Short title
1 These Regulations, which amend the Motor Taxi Regulations
1952 (the "principal Regulations"), may be cited as the Motor Taxi
Amendment Regulations 2007.

Revoke Schedule 1
2 Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations is revoked and the
following substituted for it —

“SCHEDULE 1 (regulation 3(1))

Legal Charges Scale

1 Where the taxi is hired in respect of a particular journey, the
legal charge payable is the amount obtained from the application of the
following scale duly recorded by the taximeter:


Rate 1 — MILEAGE

For the first one-fifth of a mile or part thereof
(initial charge)

$4.14

For each subsequent one-fifth of a mile or part
thereof (meter advances) $0.44

Rate 2 — WAITING TIME

First five minutes before commencement of
journey

FREE

For each subsequent period of three minutes
or part thereof

$1.30

Rate 3 — SURCHARGE

Where any part of the hiring—

(a) occurs between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m. and
the taxi carries up to four passengers or occurs between
the hours of 6 a.m. and midnight and the taxi carries
five or six passengers or occurs on a public holiday and
the taxi carries up to four passengers, there shall be
added in any such case a surcharge of twenty-five
percent of the total charge otherwise payable under Rate
1; or

(b) occurs between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m. or
occurs on a public holiday and, in either case, the taxi
carries five or six passengers, there shall be added a
surcharge of fifty percent of the total charge otherwise
payable under Rate 1.

Where a taxi is hired in respect of a period of time for a sightseeing tour
the legal charge payable for every hour or part thereof is as follows ⎯


4-SEATER TAXI

one to four passengers $40.00

6-SEATER TAXI

one to four passengers $40.00
five to six passengers $55.00".



Revoke Schedule 2
3 Schedule 2 to the principal Regulations is revoked and the
following substituted for it —

Commencement
