The Minister of Tourism and Transport, in exercise of the powers
conferred by section 10(1)(a) and (b) of the Marine Board Act 1962, and
paragraph 4 of the Marine Board (Declaration of Speed Limits for Boats)
(Mariners) Notice 2001, gives the following Notice:
Citation
1 This Notice may be cited as the Marine Board (Control Over
Maritime Traffic) Notice 2006.
Power boat races
2 Power boat closed circuit races will be held between the hours of
10:00 am and 6:00 pm at Ferry Reach on the following dates —
May 14, 21;
June 18;
July 16;

August 27; and
September 17.
Practice races
3 Practice races will be held between the hours of 12:00 noon and
6:00 pm at Ferry Reach on the following dates —
May 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 27, 30;
June 1, 3, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 27, 29;
July 1, 4, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29;
August 1, 3, 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 29, 31;
September 2, 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 21, 23, 26, 28, 30; and
October 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, 24, 26, 31.
Patrol of course
4 (1) Except during the practice races under paragraph 3, Ferry
Reach will be patrolled by Marshall boats.
(2) All mariners, pilots and boatmen are required to exercise
extreme caution in approaching Ferry Reach whether Ferry Reach is
patrolled by Marshall boats or not.
Non-application of speed limits
5 The speed limits fixed by paragraph 3 of the Marine Board
(Declaration of Speed Limits for Boats) (Mariners) Notice 2001 shall not
apply to persons and boats participating in the races referred to in
paragraphs 2, 3 and 6 on the dates and times therein specified.
Postponement of races
6 In the event that there is inclement weather, the races referred
to in paragraphs 2 and 3 shall be postponed and rescheduled to be held
on the following dates between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm and this Notice
shall apply in all respects, to the races ⎯
May 21, 28;
June 25;
July 23; and
September 3, 24.
