HUMAN RIGHTS AMENDMENT ACT 2006

WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Human Rights Act 1981:

Be it enacted by The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Assembly of
Bermuda, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Short title
1 This Act may be cited as the Human Rights Amendment Act
2005.

Amends section 5
2 Section 5 of the Human Rights Act 1981 (in this Act referred to
as “the principal Act”) is amended in subsection (3A) by deleting
“defendant” wherever it occurs and substituting “respondent”.

Amends section 6B
3 Section 6B of the principal Act is amended by repealing
subsection (1) and substituting the following subsection —

“(1) No person who is an employee shall be harassed
in the work place by the employer or agent of the
employer or by another employee on the basis of any
ground referred to in section 2(2)(a)(i) to (vii). ”.
