HISTORIC WRECKS AMENDMENT ACT 2004

Operative Date: 3 December 2004

WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Historic Wrecks Act
2001:

Be it enacted by The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Assembly of
Bermuda, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Short title
1 This Act may be cited as the Historic Wrecks Amendment Act
2004.

Interpretation
2 In this Act "the principal Act" means the Historic Wrecks Act
2001.

Amendment of section 2
3 Section 2 of the principal Act is amended in the definition of
" "wreck" or "historic wreck" " by deleting the words "Wreck and Salvage
Act 1959" and substituting "Part IX of the Merchant Shipping Act 2002".

HISTORIC WRECKS AMENDMENT ACT 2004

Amendment of section 5
4 Section 5 of the principal Act is amended by deleting the
words beginning with "The Minister" and ending with "a public officer"
and substituting the following 

"There shall continue to be a Custodian of Historic Wrecks
whose office shall be a public office,".

Amendment of section 6
5 Section 6(1) of the principal Act is amended by deleting the
words beginning with "The Custodian" and ending with "shall " and
substituting the following

"The Custodian shall as soon as practicable after 1st January
2005".

Amendment of section 11
6 Section 11(1) of the principal Act is amended by deleting the
words "section 9 of the Wreck and Salvage Act 1959" and substituting
"section 200 of the Merchant Shipping Act 2002".

i
