CONTRIBUTORY PENSIONS AMENDMENT ACT 2002

WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Contributory Pensions
Act 1970 and statutory instruments made under that Act to change the
title of the post of Insurance officer to Director of Social Insurance:
Be it enacted by The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Assembly of
Bermuda, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Citation
1 This Act may be cited as the Contributory Pensions Amendment
Act 2002.
Change of title of Insurance Officer to Director of Social Insurance
2 The Contributory Pensions Act 1970 is amended—
(a) in section 1(1), by deleting the definition of "Insurance
Officer" and substituting in the appropriate alphabetical
place the following
""Director" means the public officer appointed as Director of
Social Insurance to administer this Act;";
(b) generally, by deleting the words "Insurance Officer"
where they appear in sections 6, 8, 11, 13, 17A, 17B,
18, 20, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 29, 30, 31, 32 and 35 and

paragraph 4(2) of the Second Schedule and substituting
in each case the word "Director".
Amendment of statutory instruments
3 (1) The Contributory Pensions (Voluntary Payments)
Regulations 1968 are amended in paragraphs 2 and 3 by deleting the
words "Insurance Officer" and substituting the word "Director".
(2) The Contributory Pensions (Defacement of Insurance Cards)
Regulations 1969 are amended in paragraph 1(1) by deleting the words
"Insurance Officer" and substituting the word "Director".
(3) The Contributory Pensions (Exceptions from Liability for
Contributions) Regulations 1973 are amended in paragraph 1 by deleting
the words "Insurance Officer" wherever they appear and substituting the
word "Director".
Commencement
4 This Act comes into operation on such date as the Minister
responsible for finance may appoint by notice published in the Gazette.
