AUXILIARY BICYCLES AMENDMENT (NO 2) ACT 2001

WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Auxiliary Bicycles Act
1954:

Be it enacted by The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Assembly of
Bermuda, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Short title
1 This Act, which amends the Auxiliary Bicycles Act 1954, may be
cited as the Auxiliary Bicycles Amendment (No. 2) Act 2001.

Inserts new s. 17A in Auxiliary Bicycles Act 1954
2 The Auxiliary Bicycles Act 1954 is amended by inserting the
following new section after section 17—

"Satisfaction of emissions standards in connection with
auxiliary bicycle licences
17A (1) Without prejudice to section 18, an auxiliary bicycle
licence shall not be issued in respect of an auxiliary bicycle
imported into Bermuda after the coming into operation of this
section unless the auxiliary bicycle complies with approved
emissions standards.

(2) The Minister may by order subject to the negative
resolution procedure—

(a) approve emissions standards for the purposes of
subsection (1);

(b) exempt any class of auxiliary bicycle from the
requirements of subsection (1).

(3) In this section "approved emissions standards"
means such standards as are approved by the Minister under
subsection (2)(a).".

Commencement
3 This Act comes into operation on such day as the Minister may
appoint by notice published in the Gazette.
