BERMUDA IMMIGRATION AND PROTECTION (RENTAL
CHARGES) AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 2000

The Governor, in exercise of the power conferred upon him by
section 86(4) of the Bermuda Immigration and Protection Act 1956,
makes the following Regulations:

Citation
1 These Regulations, which amend the Bermuda Immigration and
Protection (Rental Charges) Regulations 1985, may be cited as the
Bermuda Immigration and Protection (Rental Charges) Amendment
Regulations 2000.

Amendment of regulation 7 of the Bermuda Immigration and
Protection (Rental Charges) Regulations 1985
2 Regulation 7 of the Bermuda Immigration and Protection (Rental
Charges) Regulations 1985 (which provided for a statutory charge of the
greater of $50 or 5% of rent) is revoked and the following regulation is
substituted—

"Statutory charge
7 (1) Immediately on the grant of a permit, the licensee
shall pay to the Minister the statutory charge, namely the
prescribed percentage of—

(a) $1,000, or

(b) the total rent for which the renting agreement
provides,

whichever is the greater.

(2) For the purposes of this regulation, "prescribed
percentage" means such percentage as may be prescribed in
section 9 of the Miscellaneous Taxes (Rates) Act 1980 (the rate
for hotel occupancy tax).".
