MUSLIM MARRIAGE AMENDMENT ACT 1999

WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Muslim Marriage Act
1984.

Be it enacted by The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Assembly of
Bermuda, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Citation
1 This Act which amends the Muslim Marriage Act 1984 ("the Act")
may be cited as the Muslim Marriage Amendment Act 1999.

Amends section 2 of the Act
2 Section 2(a) of the Act is repealed and the following is
substituted:

"(a) "Imam" means the spiritual leader of a religious
community in Bermuda of the Islamic faith;".

Amends section 4 of the Act
3 Section 4 of the Act is amended by deleting the words "the
Resident Imam or to an Assistant Imam" and substituting "any Imam".
