AMENDMENT ACT 1999

WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for corporate membership of
the Institute and to make consequential amendments:

Be it enacted by The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Assembly of
Bermuda, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Citation
1 This Act may be cited as the Institute of Chartered Accountants
of Bermuda Amendment Act 1999.

Amendment of section 1 of the Act
2 Section 1 of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bermuda
Act ("the Act") is amended—

(a) by deleting the definition of "member" and substituting
the following:

" "member" means a member of the Institute and
includes an individual member and a corporate
member;";

(b) by inserting the following definitions in the appropriate
alphabetical place—

" "corporate member" means a member that is a
company;

"individual member" means a member who is an
individual;".

Amendment of section 4 of the Act
3 Section 4 of the Act is amended by inserting the word
"individual" before the word "members" where it twice occurs.

Amendment of section 5 of the Act
4 Section 5 of the Act is amended by inserting before the word
"individual" before the word "members" where it twice occurs.

Amendment of section 7 of the Act
5 Section 7(1) of the Act is amended—

(a) in paragraph (a), by inserting the word "individual"
before the word "members";

(b) by deleting paragraph (b) and substituting the
following—

"(b) prescribing the requisite qualifications of
individual members and corporate members,
providing for admission to membership in the
Institute of individual members and corporate
members, providing for the registration of
students and determining the rights and
obligations of individual members and corporate
members;".

Amendment of section 9 of the Act
6 Section 9(2) of the Act is amended by deleting the word "A" and
substituting the words "An individual".
