BERMUDA BAR AMENDMENT ACT 1999

WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Bermuda Bar Act 1974:

Be it enacted by The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Assembly of
Bermuda, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Citation
1 This Act which amends the Bermuda Bar Act 1974 may be cited
as the Bermuda Bar Amendment Act 1999.

Amends section 10 of Bermuda Bar Act
2 Section 10 of the Bermuda Bar Act 1974 is amended—

(a) in subsection (3), by deleting the word "and" at the end
of paragraph (d) and by deleting the full stop at the end
of paragraph (e) and substituting the words "; and"; and

(b) by inserting next after paragraph (e) the following—

"(f) he has, within the period of twelve months
immediately preceding the date on which he applies
for a practising certificate, complied with such
requirements applicable to him, if any, of the
Continuing Legal Education Programme.";

(c) by inserting next after subsection (6) the following—

" (7) For the purposes of subsection (3) "the
Continuing Legal Education Programme" means such
programme as the Bar Council may from time to time
approve.".
