POST OFFICE AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 1996

The Minister in exercise of the power conferred upon him by
section 65 of the Post Office Act 1900 makes the following Regulations:

Citation
1 These Regulations which amend the Post Office Regulations
1933 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Regulations") may be cited
as the Post Office Amendment Regulations 1996.

Amends regulation 4 of principal Regulations
2 Regulation 4 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting
the table of postage rates appearing therein and substituting the
following table—

Inserts new regulation 4B in principal Regulations
3 The principal Regulations are amended by inserting next after
regulation 4A the following—

"Pre-sorted local Mail Discounts
4B Where pre-sorted bulk mail is to be mailed locally, the

postage rates shall allow for the following discounts—

Pre-sorted Bulk Mail Discount
per item

500 to 1,000 postal packets 1 cent

1,001 to 10,000 postal packets 2 cents

10,001 to 20,000 postal packets 4 cents

exceeding 20,000 postal packets 5 cents".

Amends regulation 70 of principal Regulations
4 Regulation 70 of the principal Regulations is amended in
paragraph (1)(d), by deleting the symbol and figure "$2.00" and
substituting the symbol and figure "$2.50".

Amends regulation 124 of principal Regulations
5 Regulation 124 of the principal Regulations is amended by
deleting the symbols and figures "$50.00", "$70.00", "$230.00", "$38.00"
(wherever it appears), and "$55.00" and substituting therefor respectively
the symbols and figures "$60.00", "$80.00", "$240.00", "$50.00" and
"$70.00".

Revokes and replaces regulation 127A of principal Regulations
6 Regulation 127A of the principal Regulations is revoked and
replaced by the following—

"International Data Express
127A The fees for the preferential delivery of a postal packet of
a maximum weight of 15 kilograms are as follows—

(a) United States of America, and Canada
Up to 1/2 kg.: $22.00
For every additional 250g. or part thereof $2.50

(b) United Kingdom
Up to 1/2 kg.: $28.00
For every additional 250g. or part thereof $3.50

(c) All other countries in Europe
Up to 1/2 kg.: $28.00
For every additional 250g. or part thereof $3.50

(d) Caribbean and South America
Up to 1/2 kg.: $22.00
For every additional 250g. or part thereof $2.50

(e) All other countries
Up to 1/2 kg.: $35.00
For every additional 250g. or part thereof $4.00".

Revokes and replaces Schedule to principal Regulations
7 The Schedule to the principal Regulations is revoked and
replaced by the following—
