PUBLIC HOLIDAYS AMENDMENT ACT 1993

[Operative Date 31 December 1993]

WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Public Holidays Act
1947:

Be it enacted by The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Assembly of
Bermuda, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Short title
1 This Act may be cited as the Public Holidays Amendment Act
1993.

Inserts new section 7A in Act No 35 of 1947
2 The Public Holidays Act 1947 is amended by inserting next after
section 7 the following as section 7A—

"Government holidays

7A (1) Public offices shall not be open for the transaction
of business on any day which—

(a) next succeeds a Government holiday; and

(b) is not itself a public holiday.

(2) "Government holiday" in subsection (1) means a
Saturday which is a public holiday.

(3) Where an act is required or permitted by law to be
done before a public officer on a day and that day is one to

which subsection (1) applies, then that act may be lawfully done
on the next succeeding day that is a business day.".

Commencement
3 This Act comes into operation immediately before 1 January
1994.
