CHAPTER 47
CASUAL REVENUE
[18th February, 1870]
1.-(1) This Act may be cited as the Casual Revenue Act.
(2) “Minister” means the Minister for the time being responsible for
finance;
2. All casual revenue of the Crown (other than droits of the Crown except
personal property devolving on the Crown through the death of any person
wholly or partially intestate and without next of kin and droits of the
Admiralty) shall from time to time be paid into the Treasury and be from
time to time appropriated for such public purposes as the National Assem-

bly thinks proper and directs.
3.-(1) The Minister may, notwithstanding, entertain claims which may be pre-
sented upon or against the property of any person dying intestate and without
heirs or next of kin, founded upon equitable or moral grounds and make such
provision and allowance therefrom as shall be considered fit.
(2) Every provision or allowance made therefrom with the grounds for
making the same shall be communicated to the National Assembly forthwith if
it is at the time in session, or otherwise at its next session.
4. The Minister shall, from time to time as occasion requires, repay and
make good to any person preferring and duly proving his claim to the same
after such appropriation as provided in section 2, all such sums of money so
appropriated, and all moneys in the Treasury forming of or arising from the
general revenue of Belize shall be applicable for so repaying or making good
the same.
5. If any person prefers a claim to any moneys so appropriated pur-
suant to the provisions of this Act and that claim is disallowed by the Min-
ister, that person may, notwithstanding such rejection, institute civil pro-
ceedings for the recovery of the money claimed against the Crown in ac-
cordance with the provisions of the Crown Proceedings Act.
