Directions — broadcast requirements and radio frequency
1 Duration This instrument: (a) commences at 0800 hours Eastern Standard Time (EST) on 2 September 2005; and (b) stops having effect at 1900 hours EST on 4 September 2005. 2 Designation of airspace The airspace mentioned in Schedule 1 is designated as an area in which broadcast requirements apply (designated area). 3 Direction — broadcast requirements (1) The broadcast requirements mentioned in Schedule 2 apply in the designated area. (2) The broadcast requirements that would otherwise apply within a circle of 5 NM radius centred on Birdsville Aerodrome under Schedule 2 of instrument CASA 203/05 do not apply while this instrument applies. 4 Direction — radio frequency The radio frequency on which broadcasts must be made in the designated area is 126.7 MHz. Schedule 1 Designated airspace The airspace up to a height of 5 000 feet above mean sea level over the area whose boundary is a circle that: (a) has a radius of 15 NM; and (b) is centred on latitude 25°53’51” south, longitude 139°20’51” east (Birdsville Aerodrome). Schedule 2 Broadcast requirements 1 The pilot in command of an aircraft flying in the designated area who intends to land at Birdsville Aerodrome must: (a) when the aircraft is over Birdsville Racecourse — make a broadcast consisting of the aircraft’s call sign and type followed by the word “RACECOURSE”; and (b) when the aircraft starts the base turn — make a broadcast consisting of: (i) the aircraft’s call sign and type followed by the words “BASE FOR RUNWAY”; and (ii) the number of the runway on which the pilot intends to land; and (c) if the aircraft has started an approach to land but is unable to land — make a broadcast consisting of the aircraft’s call sign and type followed by the words “GOING ROUND” when the aircraft starts to go round. 2 If the pilot in command of an aircraft: (a) has taken off from Birdsville Aerodrome; and (b) is flying in the designated area; and (c) needs to return to the aerodrome for an emergency landing; the pilot must make a broadcast stating his or her intention to return to the aerodrome. 3 Immediately before take-off from runway 14 (RWY 14) at Birdsville Aerodrome, the pilot in command of an aircraft who intends to make a right turn after the take-off must make a broadcast stating his or her intention to make a right turn.
