(REGULATION 1218(2)(a)(i)(B))
 
 
I, TERESA GAMBARO, Assistant Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, acting under subsubparagraph 1218(2)(a)(i)(B) of Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the Migration Regulations 1994 (‘the Regulations’):
 
1.                  REVOKE Instrument number IMMI 07/036, signed on 24 June 2007, specifying classes of persons for the purposes of subsubparagraph 1218(2)(a)(i)(B) of Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the Regulations;
 
2.                  SPECIFY as a class of persons for the purposes of subsubparagraph 1218(2)(a)(i)(B) of Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the Regulations, each person holding the kind of passport specified in column 2 of the Schedule to this Instrument, subject to satisfying the conditions, if any, in column 3 of the Schedule for passports of that kind, where that person is outside Australia and lodges an application on the internet for a Tourist (Class TR) visa for the duration of three months or less; AND
 
3.                  SPECIFY as a class of persons for the purposes of subsubparagraph 1218(2)(a)(i)(B) of Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the Regulations, each person who is a registered World Youth Day pilgrim.
 
For the purposes of this Instrument:
 
“pilgrim” means any person entering Australia for the purpose of attending World Youth Day who
has:
(a)    registered their details with WYD 2008; and
(b)   received the endorsement of their local bishop to attend World Youth Day.
 
“World Youth Day” means the week of events organised by WYD 2008 to be held in Sydney from
15 to 20 July 2008.
    
“WYD 2008” refers to the entity responsible for organising World Youth Day.
 
 
This Instrument, IMMI 07/052 commences on the day after registration on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments.
