1              Name of Technical Standard
                This Technical Standard is the Telecommunications Technical Standard (Information Technology Equipment — Safety, Part 1: General Requirements — AS/NZS 60950.1:2011) Amendment 2013 (No.1).
2              Commencement
                This Technical Standard commences on the day after it is registered.

                Schedule 1 amends the Telecommunications Technical Standard (Information Technology Equipment — Safety, Part 1: General Requirements — AS/NZS 60950.1:2011) 2011.

                Australian/New Zealand Standard means the Australian/New Zealand Standard: Information technology equipment – Safety, Part 1: General requirements – (AS/NZS 60950.1:2011), approved by the Council of Standards Australia on 28 October 2010 and by the Council of Standards New Zealand on 23 December 2010 and published on 8 February 2011.

manufactured, in relation to relevant customer equipment, means manufactured in Australia.

This Technical Standard applies to:
(a)     customer equipment that is designed or intended for connection to a telecommunications network; and
(b)     information technology equipment designed to use the AC mains supply as a telecommunications transmission medium; and
includes such equipment as modified.

6              Requirement
(1)            Relevant customer equipment must comply with the mandatory requirements set out in the Australian/New Zealand Standard, as in force or existing at the time specified in subsection (2).
(2)            For the purposes of subsection (1), the time specified is:
(a)          if the relevant customer equipment is not modified and neither paragraph (c) nor paragraph (d) applies – the time the relevant customer equipment is manufactured or imported (as the case may be);
(b)          if the relevant customer equipment is modified and neither paragraph (c) nor paragraph (d) applies – the time the relevant customer equipment is so modified;
(c)          if:
(i)         the manufacturer or importer of the relevant customer equipment has previously manufactured or imported other relevant customer equipment on one or more occasions; and
(ii)        on each occasion, the other relevant customer equipment has not been modified and is identical to the first-mentioned relevant customer equipment;
– the first occasion on which the other relevant customer equipment was manufactured or imported (as the case may be); or
(d)          if:
(i)         the manufacturer or importer of the relevant customer equipment has previously manufactured or imported other relevant customer equipment on one or more occasions; and
(ii)        on each occasion, the other relevant customer equipment has been modified and, as modified, is identical to the first-mentioned relevant customer equipment;
– the first occasion on which the other relevant customer equipment was so modified.

7              Effect of amendment to or replacement of Australian/New Zealand Standard
 
         If:
(a)   the Australian/New Zealand Standard is amended, or replaced by another standard, less than one year before the time specified in subsection 6(2) in relation to relevant customer equipment; and
(b)   the relevant customer equipment complies with the mandatory requirements set out in the Australian/New Zealand Standard as in force immediately before the commencement of the amendment or replacement standard (as the case may be);
 
the relevant customer equipment is taken to comply with section 6.
