Directions under subregulation 235 (2) relating to landing weight and landing distance required
(a) commences on 1 October 2013; and
(b) expires, as if it had been repealed by another instrument, at the earlier of:
(i) the coming into effect of the next amendment of subsection 11 of Civil Aviation Order (CAO) 20.7.1B; or
(ii) 31 July 2014.
In this instrument:
EFB means electronic flight bag which includes OPT.
Enroute Landing Performance means the actual landing distance required for the actual conditions, aeroplane configuration, runway conditions, and aeroplane system integrity using the deceleration devices planned to be used for the landing. The actual landing distance required is obtained by reference to the data supplied by the manufacturer either through an EFB or the aircraft’s manual.
manual means the Boeing Flight Crew Operations Manual and the aircraft flight manual.
OPT means the Boeing Onboard Performance Tool software.
This instrument applies to Qantas Airways Limited, Aviation Reference Number 216147 (the operator), and pilots employed by the operator flying Boeing aircraft, when using the Enroute Landing Performance in the applicable manual.
I issue the directions in Schedule 1.
Schedule 1 Directions
1 The operator’s manuals must be amended to indicate an air distance of 1 500 feet for normal configuration and non-normal configuration landing distances when computing Enroute Landing Performance.
2 The operator’s OPT must be modified to include an air distance of 1 500 feet for all Enroute Landing Performance computations.
3 Despite subsection 11 of CAO 20.7.1B, when en route, except in an emergency, pilots employed by the operator must use a landing distance that is 1.15 times the Enroute Landing Performance.
