CHAPTER 380

THE REVISING OFFICER (APPOINTMENT AND
VALIDATION) ACT, 1980

Arrangement of Sections

2. Appointments and Validation.

REVISING OFFICER (APPOINTMENT AND
VALIDATION) 1980

WHEREAS provision is made in subsection (2) of sec-
tion 7 of the Representation of the People Act, hereinafter Cap. 3T9.
referred to as the Act, for the appointment of a Revising
Officer for each Constituency and whereby the same person
may be appointed to be the Revising Officer for more than
one Constituency:

AND WHEREAS in pursuance of the above provision
Dunbar Cenac was appointed to be Revising Officer for the
Constituencies of St. John's City West, St. John's Rural
North and St. Philip South:

AND WHEREAS in the years 1977, 1978 and 1979
hereinafter collectively referred to as the three years, Dunbar
Cenac, Barrister-at-Law and he only performed the functions
and duties of Revising Officer for the fourteen Constituencies
of St. John's City East, St. John's City South, St. John's
Rural West, St. John's Rural South, St. John's Rural East,

St. Mary's North, St. Mary's South, St. Luke's, All Saints,
St. George, St. Peter, St. Philip North, St. Paul and Barbuda,
hereinafter collectively referred to as the fourteen
Consiituencies.

AND WHEREAS Dunbar Cenac performed the func-
tions and duties of Revising Officer for the fourteen Con-
stituences in the three years without being appointed pursuant
to subsection (2) of section 7 of the Act to be the Revising
Officer for any of the fourteen Constituences.

NOW THEREFORE:-

Short title. 1. This Act may be cited as The Revising Officer
(Appointment and Validation) Act, 1980.

Appointments
and Validation. 2. (1) Notwithstanding any of the provisions of the

Act, Dunbar Cenac is hereby deemed to have been appointed
to be Revising Officer for the fourteen ~0nstituenc;k;s in the
three years as if the said Dunbar Cenac had been duly
appointed to be Revising 0fficer.for the fourteen Con-
stituencies in the three years under and by virtue of sub-
section (2) of section 7 of the Act and the said appointments
as such Revising Officer are hereby declared to be valid for
all intents and purposes whatsoever.

(2) Nothing done or omitted to be done by Dunbar
Cenac in the performance or purported performance of his
functions and duties as such Revising Officer for the four-
teen Constituencies in the three years shall be or be deemed
to be invalid by reason only that Dunbar Cenac had not
prior to the coming into force of this Act been appointed
as Revising Officer for the fourteen Constituencies in the
three years under subsection (2) of section 7 of the Act.
