Convention

Between the Swiss Confederation and the French Republic
A correction of the border between the Canton of Geneva and
The departments of Ain and Haute-Savoie

The Swiss Federal Council and the President of the French Republic,

Wishing to develop the border between the two states,

Agreed to the following provisions:

Art. 1

The boundary is rectified in the following areas:

(a)
At the height of the creek of Ecraz, between the terminals 130 and 133, canton of Geneva, commune of Satigny and the department of Ain, commune of Saint-Genis-Pouilly, for a surface of 1060 m 2 , in accordance with Annex 1;
(b)
à la height des Bois de Chancy, entre les terminals 10 et 25, canton de Genève, commune de Chancy et le département de la Haute-Savoie, communes de Viry et Valleiry, pour une surface de 2842 m 2 , in accordance with Annex 2;
(c)
Along the route of Soral to Viry, between bounds 31 and 35, canton of Geneva, commune of Soral and the department of Haute-Savoie, commune of Viry, for a surface of 1326 m 2 , in accordance with Annex 3;
(d)
At the height of Le Chambet, between the terminals 188 and 194, canton of Geneva, commune of Jussy and the department of Haute-Savoie, common of Veigy-Foncenex, for a surface of 350 m 2 , in accordance with Annex 4.

2. Annexes 1 to 4 are an integral part of this Convention 1 .

3. Are reserved for minor changes that may result from the rectified boundary.

Art. 2

On the entry into force of this Convention, the Permanent Delegates to the Franco-Swiss Border are responsible for proceeding, in respect of the sectors defined in Art. 1, to:

(a)
The demarcation and measurement of the border
(b)
Establishment of spreadsheets, plans and descriptions of the border.

2. After completion of the said work, a record with tabels, plans and descriptions of the new route, confirming the implementation of this Convention, shall be attached as an integral part of this Convention.

3. The costs relating to the implementation of this work shall be split in half between the two States.

Art. 3

The preceding provisions repeal the earlier provisions relating to these sectors included in previous minutes.

Art. 4

This Convention shall enter into force on the first day of the second month following the date of receipt of the last instrument of ratification.
