Mr. Director,
We have the honour to inform you that, at its meeting on 3 February 1948, the Federal Council decided that from 1 Er January 1948, Provisional Arrangement concluded April 19, 1946 2 Between the Federal Council and the Secretary-General of the United Nations shall be applied by analogy to the Universal Postal Union, its bodies, representatives of Member States, experts and officials of that Union.
The Federal Council decision (Art. 10 of the Statute of 31 January 1947 3 " Providing for the duration of their duties to the Directors, Vice-Directors and Non-Swiss Councillors, as well as to the members of their families, diplomatic privileges and immunities, is maintained for the International Bureau of the Postal Union Provided that the number of beneficiaries of this decision remains as small as it is currently.

During its meeting in Bern, the Provisional Executive and Liaison Committee of the Universal Postal Union officially became aware of the decision of the Federal Council of 3 February to apply by analogy, to Starting from 1 Er January 1948, to the Universal Postal Union, its organs, the representatives of member States, the experts and officials of that Union, the Provisional Agreement concluded on 19 April 1946 4 Between the Federal Council and the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
The news of this decision has generated considerable interest in the Commission. The President stated that, as far as Swiss territory is concerned, it gives full satisfaction to the Universal Postal Union. In addition, reflecting the unanimous sentiments of his colleagues, the representative of Great Britain, Sir David Ludbury, expressed the Commission's gratitude to the Federal Government for its support for the Union.
On the other hand, the Commission approved the following resolution submitted to it by the undersigned:
I would therefore be very grateful if you would, if this has not already been done, follow up on this Commission vote.
