The Embassy of Switzerland has the honour to acknowledge receipt by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China of its note of April 29, 1988, concerning visas for members of airline offices, respectively Designated by each of the two States and the crews assigned to the regular flights thereof. This note reads as follows:

" 1.

The Embassy of the State of accreditation accredited to the other State shall issue, subject to prior approval by the competent authorities of the State of assignment, an entry visa valid for three months and a single journey to the members of the office of the Airline designated by the other State, as well as to their spouses and minor children accompanying them. Upon arrival in the State of assignment, the visa service of the State shall issue a valid visa for twelve months and several trips. If an extension is required, it may renew the visa on request, and each renewal must not exceed one year.

The crew members of the designated and approved airline of one of the states may enter the territory of the other State and exit without a visa on presentation of their valid passport or of their certificate of crew member, in the They are on the list of flight attendants handed over to the border control authorities after the arrival of the aircraft. This list shall contain the seal of the designated airline and indicate the name, first name, sex, date of birth, nationality, function, passport number or certificate of each crew member.

After entry into the territory of the other State, all the above crew members shall be exempted from the visa if they are required to make a short stay there because of the normal rotation of crews, sickness, accident, damage or conditions On the other hand, those who stay in the other State, make a trip or leave for personal reasons, must apply for a visa at the Embassy of the other State before entering its territory.

If an airline designated by a state requires urgent repairs to the territory of the other state, it will soon grant visas to technicians responsible for repairing the damage and repairing the plane as a matter of urgency.

From the date of entry into force of this Agreement, the exchange of notes of 22 April/6 May 1975, as well as the other agreements on visas for crew members assigned to scheduled flights between China and Switzerland Cease to be in effect.

If a Contracting State wishes to denounce this Agreement, it shall notify the other State in writing by diplomatic means. The Agreement shall cease to be in force from the ninetieth day after the date of receipt of the denunciation.

If the Embassy of Switzerland wishes to give its approval to the above terms and confirm them by note, this note and the reply note from the Embassy will constitute an agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and the Embassy of Switzerland, which shall enter into force on the thirtieth day following receipt of the reply note."

The Embassy has the honour to inform the Department that it agrees with the proposals contained in its note. The Department's note and this reply constitute an agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and the Swiss Embassy, which entered into force on 29 May 1988.

The Embassy of Switzerland takes this opportunity to renew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China the assurance of its high regard.
