Having regard to the Agreement between the European Economic Community and the Swiss Confederation, signed in Brussels on 22 July 1972 2 Hereinafter referred to as "agreement", and in particular its art. 32,
Recalling the objective of the creation of a European Economic Area in accordance with the Joint Declaration adopted by the Ministers of the EFTA countries, the Member States of the Community and the Commission of the European Communities in Luxembourg on 9 April 1984,
Concern the need to develop their trade relations in the mutual interest of their economies by eliminating existing barriers affecting exports of products covered by the agreement and preventing the emergence of new ones Barriers,
Aware, however, that, in certain exceptional circumstances, a contracting party is to be forced to take measures to safeguard exports and that specific provisions must be introduced for that purpose,
Decided to conclude this Protocol:

The Additional Protocol is also valid for the Principality of Liechtenstein, as long as the Treaty of 29 March 1923 1 Establishing a customs union between the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein will remain in force.

This Additional Protocol shall be approved by the Contracting Parties in accordance with their own procedures.
It shall enter into force on 1 Er January 1990, provided that the Contracting Parties have notified before that date the completion of the necessary procedures for this purpose.
If the Contracting Parties have not notified the completion of the procedures at that date, the Protocol shall be applied provisionally from 1 Er January 1990.
This Additional Protocol shall be drawn up in duplicate in the German, French, Italian, English, Danish, Spanish, Greek, Dutch and Portuguese languages, each of these texts being equally authentic.
