Stops:

Section 1 General provisions

Art. 1 Purpose

This ordinance governs continuous training and in-depth training at the EPFL, as well as competence in this field.

Art. 2 Purpose and addressees of continuing education and in-depth training

1 Continuous training and in-depth training are designed to meet the needs of additional training.

2 They are aimed at holders of a university title, in particular engineers, architects, other scientific and technical managers and managers of private and public enterprises and administrations.

Art. 3 Continuing Education

1 Ongoing training includes:

A.
Science and technology programs leading to the Master of Advanced Studies (MAS);
B.
Programmes in the field of management of technologies leading to Executive Master (EM);
C.
Programs leading to a long-term diploma or certificate of training;
D.
Short continuous training sessions.

2 It is aimed primarily at people who already have professional experience.

Art. 4 Comprehensive Training

1 Comprehensive training includes:

A.
Science and technology programs leading to the Master of Advanced Studies (MAS);
B.
Programmes in the field of management of technologies leading to Executive Master (EM);
C.
Programs leading to a diploma or long-term in-depth training certificate.

2 It is aimed primarily at those who have just completed their studies.

Art. 5 Skills and Organization

1 The School of Continuing Education of the EPFL (EFC) coordinates all the continuous training and in-depth training activities of the EPFL under Art. 3 and 4.

2 The CFE is attached to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and is headed by the Dean of Continuing Education.

3 The first edition of the MAS and EM programs is subject to the approval of the EPFL management.

4 The Vice President for Academic Affairs:

A.
Approves the budget and accounts of the CSPS each year;
B.
Designates the directors of the DSS, EM and long-term training programs;
C.
Issues authorizations for the first edition of long-term training programs;
D.
Approves the Dean of Continuing Education's Notifiable Study Regulations.

5 The Dean of Continuing Education:

A.
Leads the CSPS;
B.
Issues authorisations for programme editions and training sessions which are not within the competence of the management of the EPFL or the Vice-President for Academic Affairs;
C.
A decision on the recognition and equivalence of academic qualifications submitted by candidates for admission to the programs, as well as the eligibility of candidates;
D.
Notify decisions regarding admission to DSS, EM and long-term training programs;
E.
Develops a strategy within the framework of the broad lines of continuous training and in-depth training determined by the management of the EPFL;
F.
Ensures the evaluation and quality control of continuing education and in-depth training activities;
G.
Ensures the promotion of continuing education and in-depth training of the EPFL.

6 Program Directors:

A.
Respond to the proper functioning and management of the program for which they are responsible;
B.
Promote the program in consultation with the Dean of Continuing Education;
C.
Decide on the admission of eligible declared candidates.

Section 2 MAS and MS programmes in continuous training and in-depth training

Art. 6 Purpose and Scope

1 The programs of MAS and EM are designed to broaden and deepen knowledge, to allow for the control of problems and to foster reorientation and career development in relation to the emergence of trades and professional profiles New.

2 A programme of MAS or MS corresponds to a minimum of 60 ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).

3 It includes an end-of-study job, carried out under the responsibility of a teacher designated by the program director, and may include an internship.

Art. 7 Organization

1 The authorisation for the first edition of a MAS or MS programme is based on a business plan and a study regulation. Authorisations for each reissue are based on the business plan and the regulation of current studies.

2 The business plan includes at least:

A.
A presentation of training objectives;
B.
Market analysis (competing demand and offers);
C.
A financing plan and a provisional budget for the edition concerned, as well as the planned evolution for the following editions;
D.
A detailed study plan defining teaching, content and teaching methods.

3 The rules of study shall specify, at a minimum, the conditions and procedure for admission, the modalities of training and the assessment of knowledge, the conditions of success and the organising bodies.

Art. 8 Eligibility and admission

1 Are eligible, on file, the DSS or EM programs with an EPF master or diploma or an equivalent recognized academic title.

2 Candidates who do not meet the condition referred to in para. 1 but testifying to an appropriate level of qualification, attested by professional experience and experience, may exceptionally be declared admissible.

3 Where the orientation or organisation of the programme so requires, admission may be subject to additional conditions such as the prior acquisition of specific knowledge and qualifications, the logistical capacity or the Composition of the assistance according to the profiles and career paths of the candidates.

Art. Titles

1 The EPFL will award the Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) to the participant who has been accepted as a regular student in a DSS program and who has met all of the terms and conditions set out in his or her educational regulations.

2 The EPFL shall grant the Executive Master (EM) to the participant who has been admitted as a regular student to a programme of EM and who has fulfilled all the procedures laid down in his rules of study.

3 The title shall be accompanied by the Diploma supplement, Which describes the level, context, content, and status of completed studies.

4 Anyone who has been admitted as a regular student and has completed all or part of a programme of MAS or MS without obtaining the corresponding title may receive a certificate of participation from the Programme Director mentioning the lessons learned And, where applicable, the appropriations obtained.

Section 3 Continuing education and long-term training programmes

Art. 10 Purpose and Scope

1 Long-term training programs have the same objectives as the MAS and EM programs (s. 6, para. 1) but they focus on a particular issue.

2 The EPFL awards a long training certificate for programs that correspond to a minimum of 10 ECTS credits.

3 The EPFL has a long training diploma for programs that correspond to a minimum of 30 ECTS credits.

Art. 11 Organization

The provisions relating to the business plan and the rules of study of the programmes of MAS and EM (Art. 7) shall apply mutatis mutandis.

Art. 12 Eligibility and admission

1 Are eligible, on file, for long-term training programs for holders of a bachelor's degree or an equivalent university level.

2 Candidates who do not meet the condition referred to in para. 1 but testifying to an appropriate level of qualification, attested by professional experience and experience, may exceptionally be declared admissible.

3 Where the orientation or organisation of the programme so requires, admission may be subject to additional conditions such as the prior acquisition of specific knowledge and qualifications by the candidates, the capacity Logistics or the composition of the assistance according to the profiles and career paths of the candidates.

Section 4 Short continuous training sessions

Art. 13 Purpose and Scope

1 Short in-service training sessions (courses, seminars, workshops, training days) are aimed at updating knowledge and developing, deepening, transferring or sharing know-how in the various fields Of practice. They are based on the research activities carried out by the organizing units.

2 They lead to the surrender of a certificate of participation.

Art. 14 Organization

The authorisations for each short continuous training session shall be based on a dossier consisting of a brief statement of the objectives, content and progress, the name of the organiser responsible, and a provisional budget.

Art. 15 Eligibility and admission

1 The following are eligible for short continuous training sessions with an academic title, qualified specialists and professionals who demonstrate an appropriate level of qualification.

2 The organiser of the session shall decide on the admission of candidates, of which he may limit the number. It provides the list of participants to the SCF.

Section 5 Course Finance, Partnerships and Staff Training

Art. 16 Course Finance

Course finances, contributions to fees and possible exemptions are settled by the Ordinance of 31 May 1995 on FIF Domain Taxes 1 .


Art. 17 Partnerships

1 Partnerships with other academic institutions, for MAS, EM or long-term programmes, must be the subject of specific conventions approved by the Directorates of the partner institutions.

2 Titles awarded jointly by the EPFL and a partner institution are governed by these conventions.

Art. 18 Training of EPFL staff

The EPFL encourages staff to follow programs and ongoing training sessions.

Section 6 Final and transitional provisions

Art. 19 Repeal and amendment of the law in force

Art. Transitional Provision

Former titles referred to in s. 10 of the order of 13 December 1999 on posttraining at the Federal Polytechnic University of Lausanne 1 May still be awarded in the context of the editions of posttraining programs in progress at the time of the coming into force of this order.


Art. Entry into force

This order shall enter into force on 1 Er September 2005.
