The Joint Commission,
Having regard to the Convention of 20 May 1987 1 On the simplification of formalities in the trade of goods, and in particular its art. 11, para. 3,
Whereas the promotion of trade in goods with the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Hungary, the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic would be facilitated by a simplification of the formalities to be achieved in the trade in Goods between these countries and the European Community, the Republic of Iceland, the Kingdom of Norway and the Swiss Confederation,
Whereas, in order to achieve this simplification, these countries should be invited to accede to the Convention,
Decides:
In accordance with the provisions of Art. 11 Bis Of the Convention, the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Hungary, the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic are invited to become each Contracting Party to this Convention from 1 Er July 1996.
This Decision shall enter into force on 1 Er January 1996.

I have the honour to inform you of the decision of the EC-EFTA Joint Commission for the simplification of formalities of 26 October 1995 (decision n O 1/95) inviting the [name of country] to become a Contracting Party to the Convention of 20 May 1987 on the simplification of formalities in the exchange of goods.
The accession of the [name of country] to the Convention may be made effective by the deposit of its instrument with the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union, together with a translation of the Convention into the official language of [name of country], Pursuant to s. 11 Bis Of this Convention.
I would have the honour to inform you at a later date of the recommendations or decisions which the Joint Commission may adopt between the date of the decision of 26 October 1995 and the date on which the accession of the [name of country] to the Convention becomes Effective in accordance with Art. 11 Bis . The [name of country] may, at its convenience, choose to include in the instrument of accession a declaration accepting these recommendations and decisions, or to file this declaration with the General Secretariat, no later than the sixth month Which follows the date of the deposit of the instrument of accession.
