0.132.349.37 original text Convention between the Switzerland and the France concerning the definition of the border between the canton of Basel-City and the Department of Haut-Rhin concluded on December 3, 1959, approved by the Federal Assembly on 30 June 1960 Instruments of ratification exchanged on 1 December 1960 entry into force on 1 December 1960 the Council Federal Switzerland and President of the French Republic , President of the community, whereas the description of the border between the canton of Basel-City and the Department of Haut-Rhin Swiss as it results of minutes of delimitation of December 24, 1818 turns outdated, considering that it is therefore appropriate to proceed to a new definition of the border in this sector, have decided to conclude this agreement.
For this purpose, they named their Plenipotentiaries, namely: (follow the names of the Plenipotentiaries) which, after to be communicated their full powers, found in good and due form, have agreed on the following: art. 1. the layout of the French-Swiss border between the canton of Basel-City and the Department of Haut-Rhin is fixed on the basis of the descriptive minutes terminals 1 to 16 and arriere-bornes ROM I/F and RM FPS annexed to this convention, and which are an integral part.
These minutes have not been published to the RO.
Art. 2. the path of the French-Swiss border on the Rhine, between the canton of Basel-City and the Department of Haut-Rhin, is formed by the median line which is replaced, for practical reasons, by a polygonal line of six sides, making reconciliation of exchanged surfaces. This line is shown on the map annexed to the present convention which it is an integral part.
The plan, published in the RO (RO 1960 after the p. 1556), is not reproduced in this collection.
Art. 3. the present convention will be ratified and the instruments of ratification will be exchanged in Berne. It comes into force on the date of the exchange of instruments of ratification.
In faith, the Plenipotentiaries took this convention of their signature.
