Convention

Between the Swiss Confederation and the French Republic rectifying the French-Swiss border following the connection of the motorways between Bardonnex (Canton de Genève) and Saint-Julien-en-Genevois (Département de la Haute-Savoie)

The Swiss Federal Council and the President of the French Republic,

Wishing to give full effect to the provisions of the Agreement of 27 September 1984 concerning the connection of the motorways between Bardonnex (Geneva) and Saint-Julien-en-Genevois (Haute-Savoie) 2 , especially to his art. 1, para. 5, and 4, para. 1,

Agreed to the following:

Art. 1

1. The route of the French-Swiss border between the canton of Geneva and the department of Haute-Savoie, in the sectors included, on the one hand, between the bounds n O 34 and n O 47 and between bounds n O 48 and n O 50 and, on the other hand, between bounds n O 64 and n O 70, shall be corrected, after exchange of parcels of equal surfaces, in accordance with the 1:5000 plan attached to this Convention (Annex n O 1) and is an integral part thereof. 1

2. Are reserved for minor changes that may result from the rectified boundary.

Art. 2

On the entry into force of this Convention, the Permanent Delegates to the Franco-Swiss Border are responsible for proceeding, in respect of the sectors defined in Art. 1, to:

A.
The demarcation and measurement of the border
B.
The establishment of spreadsheets, plans and descriptions of the border.

2. After completion of the said work, a record shall be drawn up in conjunction with tabelles, plans and description of the new layout. Following the approval of the two Governments by an exchange of notes, the minutes shall have the same force as this Convention.

3. The costs of amending the approach made necessary by this Convention shall be borne, by half, by each of the two Contracting States.

Art. 3

1. The base of the structure, widened on the two longitudinal sides by a strip of land of six metres wide, of an area of 11,641 m 2 As defined in the attached plan (Annex n O (2), shall be transferred free of charge in full ownership, free of charge and servitude, to the French Party, from the date of entry into force of this Convention. 1

2. The partial, total or compensatory backfilling of the main work site, to the benefit of the Swiss Party, shall be settled by a separate agreement.

Art. 4

This Convention shall enter into force on the first day of the second month following the date of receipt of the last instrument of ratification.
