725.14 federal law on road transit in the alpine region (LTRA) of June 17, 1994 (State on January 1, 1995) the Federal Assembly of the Swiss Confederation, view of art. 36 of the federal constitution; considering the message of the federal Council on 4 May 1994, stop: art. 1 purpose this law regulates the execution of art. 36, al. 3, of the federal constitution, on the ability of the highways in the Alpine regions.

Art. 2 highways in the alpine region highways in the alpine region are exclusively: a. Road San Bernardino: northern section Thusis-Bellinzona; b. of the Gotthard road: section Amsteg-Göschenen to Airolo-Bellinzona North; c. road of Simplon: stretch Brig-Gondo/Zwischbergen (border); d. road to the great St. Bernard: Northern Sembrancher-portal section of the tunnel.
Art. 3 capacity the capacity of highways can be increased.
Increase in the capacity of highways, includes: a. the construction of new roads which, because of their function, unloading or complement existing roads; b. expansion of roads by extra lanes.
The transformation of existing routes primarily to maintain and renew roads and improve traffic safety, is not considered a measure of an increase in capacity.
Art. 4 bypass roads construction and expansion of bypass roads are allowed.
The al. 1 applies to the roads that bypass several localities unless they form a continuous conurbation or other reasons, under the planning of the territory or the protection of the environment dictate this trace.
Art. 5 referendum and entry into force the present law is subject to optional referendum.
The federal Council shall determine the date of entry into force.
