Plain region includes: a. the area of the hills; (b) the area of plain.

The mountain and the Hills region includes mountain areas I-IV and the Hills area.

Art. 2 criteria for the delimitation of the areas in the regions of mountain and plain for the delimitation and subdivision of the mountain region, you have to apply the criteria mentioned below in descending order of importance: a. weather conditions, including the duration of the vegetation period; b. channels of communication, including coverage from the village or from the nearest Center; c. the lay of the land including the share of sloping and steep land.

The criteria listed in para. 1 are used to delimit the area of the hills, the lay of the land is paramount.
The plain area includes the surface used for agricultural purposes which is not assigned to another zone.
The surfaces located abroad are assigned to the area in which is located the bulk of land exploitation in Switzerland.
For the purposes of the measures requiring an allocation of farms in mountain or plain region, farmers are assigned to the region in most of the useful agricultural surface.
Farms without effective agricultural areas are assigned to the area in which is located the operating centre.

Art. 3delimitation in the region of Summering to delimit the Summering area, based on the Summering pastures, on the meadows of mowing grass harvested is used to feeding during the summer as well as on community pastures.
