section 1 of the Medical Research Council will provide support for basic research

of the highest scientific quality in all

disciplines.



The Scientific Council shall



1. to promote the quality of Swedish basic research and

renewal,



2. support forskarinitierad research,



3. initiate and support interdisciplinary efforts

research,



4. initiate and support strategic investments in research,



5. initiate and support investments in artistic research,



6. cooperate nationally and internationally with other

authorities and organisations which conducts and finances

research,



7. in collaboration with universities and colleges contribute to the

to create good research environments and promote a priority

of graduate studies and research of high quality,



8. long-term planning for access to infrastructure for

research,



9. participate in and promote the Swedish participation in the European

Councils and committees

Resource allocation
