Introductory provision
section 1 of this regulation contains supplementary provisions
to the law (2009:1424) on the control of protected names
on agricultural products and foodstuffs.
Competent authority
section 2 of the food and Drug Administration to receive and process applications for
the registration of protected designations for agricultural products
and food as well as an application for the amendment of
product specification and deregistration of such
products.
The national food administration shall consult with the State's agricultural work in
cases concerning agricultural products referred to in annex
II to Council Regulation (EC) No 510/2006 of 20 March
2006 on the protection of geographical indications and
designations of origin for agricultural products and foodstuffs.
2 a of the national food administration shall perform the duties of a
Member State has when it comes to the requirement specifications for
spirit drinks as referred to in article 20 of the European Parliament and
Council Regulation (EC) No 110/2008 of 15 January 2008 on the
definition, description, presentation, labelling and
the protection of geographical indications of spirit drinks as well as on
repealing Council Regulation (EEC) No 1576/89.

section 3 of the Food Administration shall monitor the control authorities
in fulfilling their obligations under the Act (2009:1424) if
control of protected designations for agricultural products and
foods.
section 4 of the food and Drug Administration may announce the additional regulations
and take the decisions necessary in addition, moreover,
the EU rules as supplemented by law (2009:1424)
on the control of protected designations for agricultural products
and foods.
Control authorities
§ 5 competent authority to exercise control is the authority
is competent to exercise control within the meaning of sections 25 and 25A
Food Regulation (2006:813), subject to
of paragraph 6.
section 6 of the NFA is the competent authority to exercise control
of agricultural products referred to in annex II to
Council Regulation (EC) no
510/2006.
section 7 of the provincial governments to coordinate local government control activities
and give them support, advice and guidance.
section 8 of the national food administration coordinates the other control authorities
activities and give them support, advice and guidance.
Regulations on control
§ 9 the NFA may provide for how
the verification shall be carried out.
section 10 of the NFA may provide for
the obligation of a control authority or control body
involved in the official controls to provide information
to the Office or the County Board on the control activities
as they engage in.
Other provisions relating to the control
section 11 of the costs which a control authority, as a result of
action under section 15 of the Act (2009:1424) on the control of
protected names on agricultural products and foodstuffs,
shall be reimbursed by the person who was the owner of agricultural products
or food when they were taken care of.
Laboratories
section 12 of the laboratories carrying out surveys of the
agricultural products and foodstuffs in connection with the control
According to the law (2009:1424) on the control of protected names
on agricultural products and foodstuffs shall be accredited by the
The Swedish Board for accreditation and technical control (SWEDAC)
or by another comparable accreditation body.

and certain agricultural products.
Other provisions
section 14 of the food and Drug Administration may announce detailed arrangements for
the enforcement of the law (2009:1424) on the control of protected
indications for agricultural products and foodstuffs, and this
Regulation.
