The incorporation of women into the Spanish Armed Forces, first scheduled in the Royal Decree-Law 1/1988 of 22 February, which regulates the incorporation of women into the Armed Forces, is a milestone It is important for the achievement of the professional equality of men and women in our country, although, at first, this standard established limitations of access to certain bodies and destinations. This legislation has been modified and, at present, women can access the same destinations as men, including those of a tactical or operational nature. The professional career today is equal for men and women, having the same tasks, training, responsibilities, salaries and disciplinary regime. Although the presence of women in the Spanish Armed Forces is one of the highest in the countries of our environment, it is necessary to continue to encourage their incorporation and to carry out initiatives that make effective and deepen the equality of opportunities set out in our rules. Faithful to this idea and to the effective achievement of equality, different normative initiatives and actions aimed at encouraging the incorporation and permanence of women in the Armed Forces have been carried out and are being developed. any kind of discrimination based on gender. In this sense, measures aimed at the protection of maternity have been adopted, both in the selection processes and in the allocation of destinations; measures facilitating the reconciliation of personal, family and work life; Center of Studies on the situation of Women in the Armed Forces (Observatory of Women in the FAS), a program has been adopted for the creation of children's centers in military establishments; measures of adaptation of the accommodations The military and the military have been assured of the presence of the woman in the Armed Forces. Among these initiatives and with the purpose of granting public recognition to the work of those persons or institutions that have contributed their work to favor the incorporation and permanence of women within the Armed Forces, eliminating any kind of discrimination, the Ministry of Defense has decided to create this award. Also, given that on 21 February the first Spanish military woman was killed in compliance with an international mission, Idoia Rodriguez Bujan, it was considered appropriate that in memory of her memory this award be created name. Idoia Rodriguez Bujan, a professional soldier of the Light Infantry, was born in Friol (Lugo), on October 25, 1983 and entered the Armed Forces on September 27, 2004. Idoia Rodriguez, destined for the Airborne Light Infantry Brigade, was decorated with the NATO medal: NO-ARTICLE 5 "ISAF" by Resolution of 13 February 2007, having passed away on the 21st of February, in the district of Shindand, south of Herat, was carrying out one of the many missions assigned to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan. In its virtue, according to the powers conferred on me by article 4.1.b) of Law 50/1997, of 27 November, of the Government, I have:

First. Creation.-The "Soldier idoia Rodriguez" award is created to recognize the work of those natural or legal persons, collectives or institutions, both military and civilian, who have performed relevant or exemplary actions to enhance the role of women or to support equal opportunities and gender in the Armed Forces.

Second. Periodicity.-The "Soldier idoia Rodriguez" award will be awarded annually, every day March 8, on the occasion of the International Day of the Working Woman. Third. Resolution and publicity.-The award will be awarded by the Order of the Minister of Defense, which will be published in the "Official Gazette of the State", on a proposal from the Jury that will be constituted for this purpose. Fourth. Jury.

1. The jury will be constituted with the exclusive purpose of awarding the prize "Soldier Idoia Rodriguez" and will be composed of: The Assistant Secretary of Defense, who will serve as President.

The Director General of Personnel. The Director General of Institutional Relations. A representative of the Army of Earth. A representative of the Navy. An Air Force representative. A representative of the General Secretariat for Equality Policies of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.

Will act as Secretary, a representative of the Women's Observatory in the Armed Forces. 2. The award agreement will be adopted by a majority of the members of the jury.

3. The deliberations and votes of the Jury shall be regulated in accordance with the legal rules on the functioning of collegiate bodies.

Fifth. Prize. The prize will consist of an object of art that symbolises it, accompanied by a diploma that accredits its concession.

Single end disposition. Entry into force. This Order shall enter into force on the day following that of its publication in the Official Gazette of the State.
