Law 7/1985, of April 2, Regulatory of the Bases of the Local Regime, and the Regulations of Population and Territorial Demarcation of the Local Entities, approved by Royal Decree 1690/1986, of July 11, establish that the Local authorities must submit to the National Statistics Institute, hereinafter the INE, by computer or telematic means, the monthly variations that are produced in the data of their municipal rolls. The INE, in compliance with the powers conferred on it by Article 17.3 of that law, shall carry out the appropriate checks on such data in order to remedy any errors and duplications that may occur.

The INE has obtained a population figure for each municipality. This figure has been used to contrast with the revised annual figure sent by the Ayuntamas, in accordance with the provisions of Article 81 of the Population and Territorial Demarcation Regulation of Local Entities, approved by Royal Decree 1690/1986 of 11 July.

When an agreement could not be reached between the number obtained by the INE and the one provided by the Councils, the Council of Emulation has reported the discrepancies with the population figure approved by the Municipalities, in accordance with Articles 82.1 and 85.a) of the said Regulation.

In accordance with the provisions of Articles 82.2 and 85.b of the Population and Territorial Demarcation Regulation of Local Entities, approved by Royal Decree 1690/1986 of 11 July, the President of the National Institute of Statistics, with the favorable report of the Council of Empadrönación, has elevated the government the proposal of official population figures of the Spanish municipalities referred to January 1, 2015, for approval by royal decree, that will be published in the "Official State Gazette".

Therefore, the official declaration of population figures resulting from the review of the Municipal Register referred to on 1 January 2015 is appropriate.

In its virtue, on the proposal of the Minister of Economy and Competitiveness and after deliberation of the Council of Ministers, at its meeting on November 27, 2015,

DISPONGO:

Article 1. Statement of official figures.

The population figures resulting from the review of the municipal rolls referred to on 1 January 2015, with effect from 31 December 2015, are declared official in each of the Spanish municipalities.

Article 2. Publication.

The National Statistics Institute will publish the official population figures for each of the Spanish municipalities, whose provincial summary and autonomous communities and the cities of Ceuta and Melilla, together with with the populations corresponding to the capital of the province and the islands, are listed in the Annex.

Single end disposition. Entry into force.

This royal decree will enter into force on the day following its publication in the "Official State Gazette".
