RUSSIAN FEDERATION FEDERAL LAW About the Russian Federation's accession to the 1996 Protocol amending the Limitation Convention on maritime claims 1976 Adopted by the State Duma on 17 December 1998 Approved by the Federation Council on 23 December 1998 Attach, on behalf of the Russian Federation, to the 1996 Protocol amending the Convention on the Limitation Requirements relating to maritime claims of 1976 with the following reservations: " The Russian Federation, in accordance with article 18, paragraph 1, of the 1976 Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims, as amended by the 1996 Protocol, reserves the right to exclude: (a) application Subparagraphs (d) and (e) of article 2, paragraph 1; (b) requirements for damage to the International Convention on Liability and Compensation for Damage in Connection with the Carriage of Hazardous and Noxy Substances by Sea, 1996, or any amendment thereto, or of any protocol to it " and with the following statements: The Federation, under subparagraph (e) of article 3 of the 1976 Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims, as amended by the 1996 Protocol, will apply to claims for damage to the person or property of the shipowner or a rescue person whose duties are related to the vessel or to the rescue operations, as well as to the requirements of their heirs, their dependants or who had the right to receive maintenance from them, the legislation of the Russian Federation on compensation for damage caused to the person or property of a citizen in full, if The Russian Federation shall avail itself of the possibility under article 15, paragraph 3, of the employment contract between the shipowner or the rescuer and such employees. The 1976 Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims, as amended by the 1996 Protocol, will apply to claims for damages caused to the person or property of a person in direct connection with the operation of the ship or in connection with of the Russian Federation injury to the person or property of a citizen, in full, if the shipowner and the person or rescuer and person are organizations or citizens of the Russian Federation "; " The Russian Federation will avail itself of the opportunity, article 15, paragraph 3 bis, of the 1976 Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims, as amended by the 1996 Protocol, and will apply to claims for damages caused to the life or health of the passenger of the ship, OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION of a citizen, in full, if the shipowner and passenger are organizations or citizens of the Russian Federation.
