1. The legal regulation of the protection of Lake Baikal is governed by this Federal Law, other federal laws and other normative legal acts of the Russian Federation, as well as by laws and other normative legal acts of the subjects of the Russian Federation. 2. If an international treaty to which the Russian Federation is a party establishes rules other than those provided for by this Federal Act, the rules of the international treaty shall apply. Article 2. Environmental zoning of the Baikal natural territory 1. Article 6. Activities prohibited or restricted on the Baikal natural territory 1. The Baikal natural area is prohibited or restricted by activities that have a negative impact on the unique ecological system of Lake Baikal: chemical pollution of Lake Baikal or Lake Baikal Part and its catchment area related to discharges and emissions of harmful substances, the use of pesticides, agro-chemicals, radioactive substances, transport operations, waste generation and consumption; physical change in the state of Lake Baikal or its part (change temperature regimes of water, fluctuation of water levels outside of permissible values, changes of runoff to Lake Baikal); biological contamination of Lake Baikal, associated with the use, breeding or acclimation of water Biological objects not peculiar to the Lake Baikal ecological system, Lake Baikal and Lake Baikal in Lake Baikal. 2. Article 9. The territories of traditional natural resource use in Baikal natural area 1.
