RUSSIAN FEDERATION FEDERAL LAW On perpetuation of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945 adopted by the State Duma on 19 April 1995 (In the wording of federal laws of 22.08.2004) N 122-FZ; dated 09.02.2009 N 12-FZ; dated 04.11.2014 N 332-FZ Based on the traditions of the peoples of Russia to preserve and protect the memory of defenders of the Motherland, those who gave their lives in the struggle for its freedom and independence, The veterans and war victims are a historical duty of the society and the state, , taking into account the people's, the liberation nature of the Great Patriotic War, the participation of the peoples of Europe and other continents, the need for international cooperation for the maintenance of universal peace and of the manifestations of fascism in any form, is adopted by this Federal Law. Article 1. Victory Day is a national holiday-Victory Day. The Victory Day is a non-working day and is marked annually by a military parade and an artillery salute. Military parades with the use of weapons and military equipment, the use of copies of the official symbol of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War-Victory Day are held in the capital of the Russian Federation Moscow, hero cities, as well as in the cities where the headquarters of the military districts, fleets, army units and the Caspian flotilla are deployed. Article 5. Monuments of the Great Patriotic War The monuments of the Great Patriotic War include sculpture, architectural and other memorial structures, and objects that perpetuate the memory of events, participants, veterans and victims of the Great Patriotic War Patriotic War.
