LEGE no. 110 110 of 10 October 1996 on the ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, concluded in Montego Bay (Jamaica) on 10 December 1982, and the accession to the Agreement on the application of Part XI of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, concluded at New York on 28 July 1994

The Romanian Parliament adopts this law + Article 1 The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea is ratified, concluded at Montego Bay (Jamaica) on 10 December 1982. + Article 2 Romania adheres to the Agreement on the application of Part XI of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 10 December 1982, concluded in New York on 28 July 1994. + Article 3 Romania reiterates the Declaration it made with the signing, on 10 December 1982, of the Convention. The statement reads as follows: "" 1. As a geographically disadvantaged country, bordering on a high poverty in fisheries resources, Romania reaffirms the need to develop international cooperation in the field of valorization of fisheries resources in economic areas, based on fair and equitable, to ensure that countries in this category have access to fishing resources in the economic zones of other regions or sub-regions. 2. Romania reaffirms the right of the riparian states to adopt measures for the protection of security interests, including the right to adopt national regulations on the passage of foreign warships through the territorial sea. The right to adopt such measures is in full compliance with art. 19 19 and 25 of the Convention, as stated in the statement of the President of the O.N.U. Conference on the Law of the Sea, at the plenary session of the conference of 26 April 1982. 3. Romania declares that, under the equity requirements-as it results from art. 74 74 and 83 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea-, the islands uninhabited and without economic life cannot affect in any way the delimitation of maritime spaces belonging to the main shores of the riparian states. " This law was adopted by the Senate at the meeting of 27 June 1996, in compliance with the provisions of art. 74 74 para. (2) of the Romanian Constitution. p.
