Law No. 110 of 10 October 1996 concerning the ratification of the United Nations Convention on the law of the sea, done at Montego Bay (Jamaica) on 10 December 1982, and commit to the agreement relating to the implementation of part XI of the United Nations Convention on the law of the sea, done at New York on 28 July 1994 the PARLIAMENT published in ISSUING the OFFICIAL GAZETTE nr. 300 21 November 1996 the Romanian Parliament adopts this law.


Article 1 shall ratify the United Nations Convention on the law of the sea, done at Montego Bay (Jamaica) on 10 December 1982.


Article 2 Romania accede to the agreement relating to the implementation of part XI of the United Nations Convention on the law of the sea of 10 December 1982, concluded at New York on 28 July 1994.


Article 3, he shall bring the Declaration on Romania made it once with the signing, on 10 December 1982, of the Convention. The Declaration has the following content: "1. The country geographically dezavantajata, a great Harbor inter-modal low in fishery resources, the need to develop cooperation reaffirming Romania international recovery of fishery resources in economic zones, on the basis of just and equitable agreements, to ensure the access of countries in this category to the fishery resources of economic zones of other regions or subregions.
2. Romania reiterates the right of riparian States to adopt measures for the protection of security interests, including the right to adopt national regulations regarding the passage of foreign warships through the territorial sea.
The right to adopt such measures is in full conformity with article 4. 19 and 25 of the Convention, as it specifies in the Declaration the Conference President Dan Savage about right, in the plenary meeting of the Conference of 26 April 1982.
3. Romania States that, pursuant to the requirements of fairness-as shown by the art. 74 and 83 of the United Nations Convention on the law of the sea, the islands uninhabited and without economic life cannot in any way affect the delimitation of the maritime spaces belonging to the seashores of the riparian States. "
This law was adopted by the Senate at its meeting on 27 June 1996, in compliance with the provisions of art. 74 para. (2) of the Constitution of Romania.
