PRESIDENCY of the COUNCIL of MINISTERS 1 motion for a resolution paragraph 104/XII Portugal is a party to the International Convention relating to cooperation for the safety of Air Navigation, Eurocontrol, of 13 December 1960, consolidated by the Protocol of 27 June 1997, approved for ratification by resolution of the Assembly of the Republic n° 35/2001, of May 4, and ratified by Presidential Decree No. 28/2001 , may 4. The Protocol on the accession of the European Community to the International Convention relating to cooperation for the safety of air navigation Eurocontrol aims to allow the European Union's accession to the European Organisation for the safety of air navigation, evolution is an important milestone towards the promotion of greater cooperation between these organizations. The European Union's accession to the International Convention relating to cooperation for the aviation safety Eurocontrol aims to thereby create the conditions for increased assistance to the Community institutions to Eurocontrol on the achievement of the objectives laid down in the Convention, in particular pose a single and efficient body in charge of setting the policy on air traffic management in Europe. The conditions for membership of the European Union allow this exercise within the Eurocontrol, the powers which have been conferred by its Member States and significantly contribute to the achievement of the goals and tasks of Eurocontrol, in accordance with the conditions expressed in the Protocol of accession.
