DRAFT RESOLUTION NO. 513 /X-4ª

Recommends to the Government the Creation of the National Day of Fight against Paramiloidosis,

on the June 16, date of the demise of Professor Doctor Mário Corino da Costa

Andrade, who in 1952 was his first descriptor

Considering that:

 The Paramiloidosis is a hereditary disease, from early adulthood,

progressive, incapacitating and fatal that manifests itself as a neuroplasty

mixed sensation motor and autonomics, conditioning an incapacity

early and a great reliance on third parties, in full active life,

leading to the fatal disclosing.

 The Paramiloidosis is an incurable and progressive disease that reaches about

600 families in follow-up by the health sector, being

identified more than 2000 symptomatic cases, with high prevalence in the

coastal North and Center of our country, which suggests that the original mutation of the

plasmonic protein generating this disease, has occurred in this zone of the

country, many years ago.

 The creation of a National Day of Fight against Paramiloidosis must have on

account for Portuguese specificity, the fact that it has been a prestigious

portuguese doctor for the first time to describe it, the prospect of alerting

the responsible entities for implementation of public health policy

and the development of informational actions to the community as well as

formative actions for the various health professionals.

By the above, and under Article 4 (1) (b) of the Rules, the undersigned Deputies propose that the Assembly of the Republic recommend to the Government, pursuant to Article 166 (5) of the Constitution: The Creation of a National Day of Fight against Paramilodosis, on the June 16, date of the demise of the first descriptor of the disease, Professor Doctor Mário Corino da Costa Andrade.
