Listening to the desire to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between peoples

Portuguese and Chinese;

Aware of the interest for both states to promote cooperation in the field

penal, particularly in the matter of extradition;

Bearing in mind that the Treaty between the Portuguese Republic and the People's Republic of

China on Extradition aims to enhance cooperation between the two countries in regard to

prevention and elimination of crime, through provisions that aim to reciprocate extradition

of persons for purposes of criminal procedure or for fulfillment of a custodising sentence

of the freedom applied by a court of the Parties.

Thus:

Under the terms of the paragraph d) of Article 197 of the Constitution, the Government presents to the Assembly

of the Republic the following motion for a resolution:

Approving the Treaty between the Portuguese Republic and the People's Republic of China on

Extradition, signed in Beijing, on January 31, 2007, the text of which, in the versions

authenticated in the Portuguese, Chinese and English languages, it publishes in attachment.
