According to the writing of Pinho Leal, Lordelo is a " very old settlement, for it was already the honor of the "Lordellos" in time of King D. Dinis " (king from 1279 a to 1325). From a certain height and in the course of the times, Lordelo was feuded from the Taveos, to where they took refuge in the time of the Marquis of Pombal. It was owned by the Crown, Benfeitoria of the Monastery of the Jerónimos, it was still belonging to the Abbey of Vila Marim, later, Junta Paroquial autonomous and, finally, Junta de Freguesia. With the administrative reorganization of the territory of 1835, which instituted the District, the District of Vila Real went on to consist of 30 concelhos, among those wanted whether it included the Lordelo's county. In 1836, by decree of November 6, 18 of these concelhos were extinguished. Among the extincts was Lordelo. Long is the story of Lordelo. We could mention their vivance through the centuries, their origin, the transformations by which they passed, their donators, their illustrious figures, their weapons and coats, etc. We could say that and so much more, only today it just matters
