CHAIR OF THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS

MOTION FOR RESOLUTION No. 97 /X

Bearing in mind that the Portuguese Republic and the Federative Republic of Brazil shall enjoy

excellent bilateral relations and both states recognize the importance of strengthening the

relationships of existing friendship and cooperation;

Recognizing the need to extend the scope of material application of the Agreement on

Social Security or Social Security between the Government of the Portuguese Republic and the

Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil, signed in Brasilia on May 7, 1991, well

how to review some of its provisions;

Aware of the importance of the coordination of social security measures in order to

guarantee equal treatment in access and in the granting of benefits that are due

directly from the implementation of the legislation of each of the Parties or the application of the present

Agreement.

Thus:

Under the terms of the paragraph d) of Article 197 (1) of the Constitution, the Government presents to the

Assembly of the Republic the following motion for a resolution:

Approve the Agreement amending the Agreement on Social Security or Social Security between the

Government of the Portuguese Republic and the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil,

signed in Brasilia on August 9, 2006, the text of which, in the authenticated version in language

portuguese, it publishes in annex.
