PRESIDENCY of the COUNCIL of MINISTERS RESOLUTION No. 97/X given that the Portuguese Republic and the Federative Republic of Brazil shall enjoy excellent bilateral relations and both States acknowledge the importance of strengthening relations of friendship and cooperation; Recognising the need to widen the material scope of the agreement on Social Security or Social Security between the Government of the Portuguese Republic and the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil, signed in Brasilia on 7 May 1991, as well as reviewing certain of its provisions; Aware of the importance of the coordination of social security measures, in order to ensure equal treatment in the access to and provision of benefits arising directly from the application of the legislation of each of the parties or of the application of this agreement. So: under d) of paragraph 1 of article 197 of the Constitution, the Government presents to the Assembly of the Republic the following resolution: to approve the agreement amending the agreement on Social security or Social Security between the Government of the Portuguese Republic and the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil, signed in Brasilia on 9 August 2006 , the text of which, in the authenticated version in Portuguese language, if published in the annex.
