CHAIR OF THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS

Proposal for Resolution No. 99 /X

Taking into account that the 2006 International Agreement on Tropical Chairs

adopted in Geneva on January 26 within the framework of the United Nations Conference

on Trade and Development, and repealing the International Agreement of 1994 on

the Tropical Chairs, of which the Portuguese Republic is Part, sets out certain principles and

measures to promote the sustainable development goals of the Union

European, thus determining a strategy that aims at the international trade of

tropical woods coming from sustainably managed sources;

Considering the need to improve the information on the market and foster the

sharing of information on the international market of the woods with a view to ensuring

greater transparency and better information on the markets and their respective

trends, particularly through the collection, compilation and dissemination of relative data

to trade, in particular those referring to the commercialized species.

Thus:

Under the terms of the paragraph d) of Article 197 (1) of the Constitution, the Government presents to the

Assembly of the Republic the following proposal for a Resolution:

Approve the 2006 International Agreement on Tropical Chairs, adopted in

Geneva, on January 27, 2006, the text of which, in the authenticated version in the English language,

as well as the respective translation for Portuguese language, if they publish in attachment.
