MOTION FOR RESOLUTION No. 88 /X

Recognizing the need to put the person and human values in the center of a

extended and interdisciplinary concept of cultural heritage;

Emphasizing the value and potentials of a well-managed cultural heritage, while

source of sustainable development and quality of life in a society in constant

evolution;

Considering that the Framework Convention of the Council of Europe on the Value of the

Cultural heritage for the Society, prepared, negotiated and adjusted in the framework of the

Council of Europe, translates an effort by the member states of this organization into

define, in the current context, a reference framework on heritage policies;

Thus:

Under the terms of the paragraph d) of Article 197 (1) of the Constitution, the Government presents to the

Assembly of the Republic, the following motion for a resolution:

Approves the Framework Convention of the Council of Europe on the Value of Heritage

Cultural for the Society, signed in Faro on October 27, 2005, the text of which

authenticated versions in the English and French languages, as well as the respective translation to

portuguese language, is published in annex.
