MOTION FOR RESOLUTION No. 81 /X

Recognizing that the fight against crime is a shared responsibility of the

international community;

Aware of the need to strengthen judicial cooperation in criminal matters and to ensure

that the legal aid decorates with speed and effectiveness;

Thus:

Under the terms of the paragraph d) of Article 197 (1) of the Constitution, the Government presents to the

Assembly of the Republic the following motion for a resolution:

Article 1.

Approve the Convention of Judicial Aid in Criminal Matters between the Member States of the

Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries, signed in the City of Praia, in 23 of

November 2005, the text of which, in the authenticated version in Portuguese language, publishes in

attachment.

Article 2.

Declare, for the purposes of Article 7, paragraph 2. of the Convention, which the Republic

Portuguese accepts the route of transmission and receipt of the applications for aid contemplated in the

point ( b) : " direct communication between competent authorities or between these and the authorities

central or between central authorities ".

Article 3.

Declare, for the purposes of the provisions of Article 7 (4) of the Convention, that the authority of the

Central Portuguese Republic for the purpose of application of the Convention is the Attorney General

of the Republic.
