MOTION FOR RESOLUTION No. 48 /X

The convention which is designed to approve has for the purpose of promoting and strengthening the measures

intended to prevent and more effectively combat corruption.

Aware that prevention and combating corruption make an essential

global and multidisciplinary approach and the strengthening of international cooperation;

Determined to promote and strengthen measures aimed at preventing and combating de

more effective form of corruption and considering that the present Convention will facilitate the

international cooperation and technical assistance in prevention and fighting

against this type of criminal illicit;

Thus:

Under the terms of the paragraph d) of Article 197 (1) of the Constitution, the Government presents to the

Assembly of the Republic the following motion for a resolution:

Article 1.

To approve the Convention against Corruption, adopted by the General Assembly of Nations

United on October 31, 2003, the text of which, in the English-language authenticated version and

its respective translation in Portuguese language, it publishes in annex.

Article 2.

Declare, for the purposes of the provisions of Article 46 (13) of the Convention, that the authority

central to receive, perform or transmit the requests for legal aid is the

Procuradorian-General of the Republic.

Article 3.

Declare, for the purposes of the provisions of Article 6 (3) of the Convention, that the entity

responsible for the aid to other Parties to develop and implement specific measures for

preventing corruption is the Directorate General of Justice Policy of the Ministry of Justice.
