5-Underline the efforts made within the framework of the Union to promote a

effective debate on the future of Europe in the wake of the difficulties

lifted by the results of the referendums on the Constitutional Treaty in

France and in the Netherlands. That debate is a sign of democratic culture and

could constitute as a factor of affirmation of a "European spirit" and

contribute to the deepening of the European construction process;

6-Record the efforts made, either by the Union or by the candidate states,

in terms of enlargement to new members, namely, in what it says

respect for Bulgaria and Romania and for the preparation of the processes, which

may lead to the entry of Croatia, the Former Republic of Macedonia and

of Turkey;

7-Note with appreciation the relaunch of the Lisbon Strategy by the

European Council of March 2005, with a focus on the objectives of the

Growth and Employment and the agreement on the financial outlook for

2007-2013 that allows you to continue to fight inequalities in space

European, through the Cohesion Policy.

8-Salient that the appreciation of this report releases the effort, the input and the

broad consensus among the political forces represented in the Assembly of the

Republic as to the integration of Portugal into the European Union, without prejudice to the

different appreciation of the priorities and guidelines followed in this process.
