FLAG OF RAISING OF THE REPUBLIC ASSEMBLY

The establishment of the democratic regime has determined profound changes in the system

political and, consequently, in the organization of public institutions. It was already in the

current year passed the Law of the Precinct and the Protocol of the State which targeted

set the list of precedence of High Public Entities that would reflect the

constitutional changes, attributing the desired valence to the holders of the Organs of

Sovereignty and prevalence to elective and representation investiments.

The Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, passed in 1976, kept the symbols

national adopted by the Republic instituted by the October 5 Revolution of

1910. However, personal badges fixed in the previous regime, based on the flag

national, fell into disuse and were later revoked due to the alteration of the architecture

constitutional. It is justified by this, now, to set a new flag of hoisting the

Assembly of the Republic.

Thus, the Assembly of the Republic, pursuant to Article 161 (o) and paragraph 5 of the

article 166 of the Constitution, resolves the following:

Article 1º

Subject

This Resolution approves the flag of raising of the Assembly of the Republic and fixed

rules on their use.

Article 2º

Description

The flag of raising of the Assembly of the Republic has the following description: of silver,

having the center sphere armilar of gold and, brocante over it, the shield of arms

national, with a green embroidery, as in the design annexed to this Resolution.

Article 3º

Dimension

1-A dimension of the flag of raising of the Assembly of the Republic has to respect the

ratio of 2 per 3.

2-A The size of the flag of hoisting is suitable for that of the national flag which in the

even location is placed.

Article 4º

Use

1-A flag raising from the Assembly of the Republic is arvored outside the Palace

of S. Bento, in the period of the legislative session and in the days of operation

parliamentarian.

2-A raising flag may be arvored in other buildings when they elapse

parliamentary work.

3-A hoisting flag can also be placed, on own device, in the Room

of the Sessions, in the Senate Room and the Cabinet of the President of the Assembly of the

Republic.

4-On the occasion of solemn sitting or ceremony, the flag of hastear may still be

placed in place of the S. Bento Palace where that decorum.

Article 5º

Special rules of use

1-A flag raising from the Assembly of the Republic is hoisted on the left, of who is

returned to the outside, from the flag of the President of the Republic, when the

President of the Republic to appear, in that capacity, in the Assembly of the Republic.

2-In case of official visit of foreign delegation, or delegation of organization

international of which Portugal is a part, the flag of raising the Assembly of the

Republic is hoisted on the left, from whom it is facing abroad, from the flag

national of the country of the visiting entity or of the flag of the international organization

of which Portugal is a part and that finds itself on an official visit to the Assembly of the

Republic.

Article 6º

Galhardete

On official displacement, the Inviature at the service of the President of the Assembly of the Republic

or of the Vice-President who lawfully replaces him, hasteia, in front of the viature,

model galhardete similar to the flag of hoisting, with the dimension of 0.30 cm x

0.20cm.
