Decision of 10 October 1985, setting up the Joke Smit Prize

We Beatrix, at the grace of God, Queen of the Netherlands, Princess of Orange-Nassau, etc. etc. etc.

On the nomination of the Secretary of State for Social Affairs and Employment, Mrs. mr. A. Kappeyne of the Coppello of 10 October 1985, Executive Board of the Coordination of Emancipation Policies, No. 85/2554, done in accordance with the views of the Council of Ministers;

Read the letter of April 29, 1982, of the then-female members of the States General, in which these members proposed to set a government award in the field of emancipation, to the feminist Joke Smit (27 August 2016). 1933-19 September 1981), which has played a very prominent role in the contemporary women's emancipation movement;

Whereas a government prize in the field of emancipation is an appropriate means of underlining the significance of the emancipation of the emancipation of the Dutch society;

  • 1 The Joke Smit prize can be awarded once every two years to a person, a group or a body on the basis of delivering or delivered a fundamental contribution to improvement of the position of women in Dutch. society.
