We have taken into consideration that the No 5 of the Law of 30 April 1815 ( State Sheet No. 33 *) set Military Willems Order has proved to be particularly suitable, so to the culpability of the warrior virtues as an honking reward of those who, in the struggle through outstanding acts of courage, policies and faithfulness, have made a special contribution to the duties of them; whereas, however, it has become necessary to revise the existing law, while maintaining its principles;
So it is that we, the Council of State, and with the mean consults of the States-General, have found and understand, as We approve, and understand the following:
1 There is an Order, seeking to reward the military, in the service of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, who have distinguished themselves in the struggle by the companies of outstanding acts of courage, policy and fidelity.
2 In special cases, non-military Dutch nationals and foreign nationals who have distinguished themselves by such acts may also be included in the Order.
The Order bears the name of Military Willems Order.
The Grand Master of the Order is inseparably linked to the Crown of the Netherlands.
1 The Order consists of four classes. The knights of the 1st class bear the title of Knight-Grand Cross, who is of the 2nd class that of Commandeur, who of the 3rd class and that of the 4th class serving Knight.
2 Where in this law of "knights of the Military Willems-Order", without any indication of class, is spoken, the knights of all classes are referred to.
All appointments and promotions in the Order are made by Us.
1 The character of the body consists of a white enamelled cross, covered by a royal crown; the four framed arms of the cross are of equal length, lobe of the centre wide, are covered at the end and fitted with pained points. The arms are attached to front and back in golden letters the words:

2 Tusschen the arms of this cross are those of a Green-enamelled Burgundian cross. In the heart of both crosses lies at the front a golden fire, at the rear a blue enamelled medallion, in the middle of which a lauworkrans, comprising the letter W.
The ribbon-like ribbon is orange with two narrow Nassau blue stripes.
1 The sign of distinction for the members of the Order is:
a. For the Knight of the 4th class: The centre line of the white embossed cross is 42 millimetres, 36 millimetres from the Burgundian cross; the conversion of the first cross and the medallion, the initialled points; The lauworkrans, the W and the crown are of silver; the width of the ribbon is 27 millimetres and 48 millimetres in the shape of the ribbon;

1 The knights of the 4th class below the rank of officer shall enjoy an allowance, according to the rank or stand, held at the moment, that they have made themselves worthy of the award, by reason of the following amounts per year:

2 The knights of the 3rd class below the rank of officer shall enjoy, subject to the preceding paragraph, equal to the double of the amounts specified in that paragraph.
3 The appointment of a Knight of the 3rd or 4th class has been awarded to two or more facts at different times; the grant shall be granted to the grade or the position which was to be completed when the last event was completed; Coated.
4 In the case of promotion to the rank of officer as well as at the time of leaving the military service, the allowance is retained.
5 When appointing a non-military citizen of the Netherlands or foreigner to a Knight of the 4th or third classes, the person concerned shall be granted an allowance, as provided for in paragraphs 1 and 2, to the person concerned.
6 An annual allowance is granted to the widow of a knight of the Military William Order, with half the allowance paid by her husband (c.q. last husband) as a knight allowance. If the knight fails to comply or die, the abovementioned allowance shall be paid to his underage legitimate or legitimate children, with each child receiving a proportionate share.
7 The payment of the allowance is made by means of the arrange ment of the arrange ment.
8 The amounts referred to in this Article shall be denominated in euro.

4 The task of the Capital shall be defined by Us.
1 The person to whom an award has been awarded in the Order is, if he has been deprived of his liberty by virtue of judicial convictions, to have the honour of wearing the award.
2 An award to the Order lapses, if the person to whom the award was awarded:
(a) has been irrevocably sentenced to a term of imprisonment of not less than one year;
b. Unhonorable has been dismissed from any public office or profession.
3 The lapse of an award in the Order is due to the loss of the organ character and of entitlement to the allowances, in Article 9 Intended.
